Samsung Electronics-display certification
SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday its latest lineup of quantum dot light-emitting diode (QLED) TVs has received certification from TUV Rheinland, a German-based global certification body, for meeting international standards for quantum dot display structure.
According to Samsung, the Real Quantum Dot Display certification verifies that Samsung’s QLED models comply with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 62595-1-6, which specifies the use of a quantum dot light-converting unit paired with blue light sources, a key requirement for defining standard QLED architecture.
TUV Rheinland tested the light spectrum of Samsung QLED TVs and found clearly separated red, green and blue wavelengths, demonstrating superior color accuracy.
Samsung said the distinct spectral performance of its QLED TVs sets them apart from those using alternative materials, which can sometimes lead to mixed or diluted colors.
According to Samsung, the latest certification underscores the company’s competitive edge in the premium TV market.
“This certification objectively validates that Samsung QLED TVs deliver true quantum dot performance built to international standards,” Son Tae-yong, executive vice president of Samsung’s visual display division, said. “We will continue to drive innovation and strengthen consumer trust as we lead the premium TV market.”
